Winnie Yim

Hello everyone, I’d like to finally introduce myself here.

I am the founder and the chef behind the scenes. I am originally from Hong Kong, but I have been living in the UK for over 17 years. Although the UK is my home, I always miss the delicious food from Hong Kong so my main hobby was always COOKING Asian food in my free time! I did my Finance and Accounting degree at the University of Nottingham but I realized an office job wasn’t my kind of thing. Therefore, I went to Le Cordon Bleu London and completed a Patisserie diploma right after I graduated from University; since then I have 8 years of experience working in high-end hotels and restaurants around London.

Unfortunately because of the pandemic, I got laid off but I never lost my passion for baking. At first, I just baked at home and shared my creations with the people in my flat, but they soon started gaining weight, so I started sharing sweet treats with my neighbours. This led to them wanting and ordering more, and the business was born there!

Too Much Sugar was founded in 2020, we love creating some of the best nostalgic Asian desserts in London and sharing them with the locals. We are a patisserie based locally in the SE16 area creating bespoke cakes for any occasion and a multitude of other sweet treats. I’ve often found British desserts can be overly sweet, therefore our recipes have the right amount of sugar to balance the delicious flavours that we create.

I would love to thank everyone who has supported us from the beginning and stayed with us during the pandemic. Especially everyone from my neighbourhood, you are all valuable to me and I hope to see you around soon.😉
